Terms of Service
Effective date: 17 May 2026 · Last updated: 29 June 2026
These terms govern your use of Oddflick. By installing or using the app you agree to them.
1. What Oddflick is
Oddflick is a vertical-feed video app that streams public-domain classic films. Every film in our catalog has, in good faith, been determined to be in the public domain in the United States — its copyright has expired, was not renewed, or it was published without a valid copyright notice.
We curate and host only public-domain works, and we remove any title we cannot confidently establish as public domain. See our Copyright / DMCA Policy.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old, or the age of digital consent in your country, whichever is higher. If you are under 18, you confirm a parent or guardian has reviewed these terms with you.
3. Your account
The app works without an account. If you choose to Sign in with Apple, you authorise us to receive a stable account identifier from Apple — never your real name or email unless Apple chooses to forward them.
You are responsible for any activity through your installed copy. If your device is lost or stolen, delete the app remotely via Find My iPhone or tap "Delete account" on a new install.
4. Content & copyright
- Films in our catalog are public-domain works that we host for playback. If you believe a film is not in the public domain and infringes a copyright you own or represent, file a takedown via the in-app Report this film → Copyright concern flow, email dmca@oddflick.com, or follow our DMCA Policy.
- We remove or disable verified material — including deleting the underlying media file — within 24 hours.
- Posters, backdrops, and synopses come from TMDB. Ratings come from OMDB. See in-app Settings → About → Open source licenses for attribution.
5. What you may do
- Watch any film in our catalog for personal, non-commercial use.
- Save films to your watchlist.
- Share a film's title and link via the iOS share sheet.
6. What you may not do
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract video streams for redistribution.
- Use the app to harass, impersonate, or threaten anyone.
- Scrape our backend above 1 request per second per IP. We rate-limit at 10/s and ban abusive IPs.
- Submit false copyright takedown requests. We escalate fraud to the relevant authorities.
6a. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior
Oddflick has zero tolerance for objectionable, illegal, or abusive content and for abusive users. The app has no user-to-user posting, comments, direct messaging, or profiles — all films are a fixed, curated public-domain catalog — so there is no user-generated content. Even so, we treat every “Report this film” submission as a content-safety report: if any title is reported as objectionable or inappropriate, we remove it within 24 hours and block it from future ingestion. Anyone who abuses the app or the reporting system may be permanently removed. You can also instantly remove any title from your own feed with the Hide control.
7. The "Report" flow
The app exposes a "Report this film" affordance on every entry (long-press → info modal). Reports go to a moderation queue with a 24-hour review SLO. We may:
- Remove the film from the catalog if the report is verified.
- Add the film to a blocklist that future ingestion pipelines respect.
- Decline the report if it is unfounded — in that case we will reply with our reasoning.
8. Recommendations
The For You feed is generated by an algorithm that learns from what you tap, complete, save, and skip. It is not designed to maximise watch time at the expense of your interests — it includes diversity rules (max 2 of same genre per 10 clips), wildcard exploration, and negative-signal amplification (3× penalty on attributes you've actively rejected).
Reset the algorithm via Settings → Preferences → Reset watch history.
9. Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may suspend an account that violates these terms, with notice where possible.
10. Disclaimer
The app is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do our best to keep the catalog accurate and the service running, but we cannot promise it will always work or be available.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months — which, given the app is free, is zero.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States. Disputes will be heard in the courts of San Francisco County, California.
12. Changes
We may update these terms over time. We will surface a banner in the app summarising any material change and bump the "Last updated" date. Continued use after a change indicates acceptance.
